We’re bringing one of the biggest privately organized pitch competitions in North America.
Catalyze 2022 pitch competition is a powerhouse! We have invited successful angel investors, venture capitalists, serial entrepreneurs, industry partners, government fund representatives, and global leaders actively looking for companies to invest in. 
Eligibility To Apply:
  • If your startup is in the automotive or mobility or smart manufacturing industries with disruptive and/or innovative technologies.
  • Autonomous and Connected Vehicles 
  • Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0
  • Manufacturing Optimization and Augmentation (AR) 
  • Vehicle Electrification- Traction Batteries, Power Electronics, motors, and other control devices and software, after motors and before control add cabin comfort
  • Hydrogen Storage and Fuel Cell Technologies for All Mobility – Conformable Storage Sectors Technologies, Reduced Cost High-Pressure Storage, Improved PEM Systems
  • Disruptive Vehicle Cabins – Electronics and Materials Interfaces, Safety, Smart Surfaces (Functionalized Surfaces) and Displays and New Value Models
  • Critical Technologies for Sustainable Vehicle Production like Renewable Materials, Mechanical Approaches, Sources of Green Energy for Manufacturing and Value Chain Tracking


  • If you’re in a startup with early-stage validation of technology, have an MVP or early commercialization stages and scale-ups.
  • If your company is seeking funding, capital, or mentorship (or will be in the next 12 months) and is a potentially viable investment opportunity.

One member of your startup, the designated leader, should complete the simple online application by:  

  • Answering the application form (about 5-7 mins) 
  • Attaching an investor pitch deck (max 20 slides) 
Investor Pitch Deck Guidelines:

An investor pitch deck is required in your application, and it should adhere to these guidelines:

  • Please submit files in Adobe Acrobat PDF/ppt/Google slides. No other format will be accepted
  • The length is no more than 20 slides
  • Startup name should be included on the first page, at the top, or at the bottom

Over the last few years, Dr. Kopinsky has been involved with mentoring several start-up organizations. In the 1980’s, Dr. Kopinsky worked at the General Motors Research Labs followed by the completion of his MBA at Columbia University. On the side, Dr. Kopinsky is an avid clarinetist and long-haul hiker.

He pulls from over 35 years of experience, drawing from studio concept to start of production vehicle greenhouse development, new business development, mergers and acquisitions, engineering management, advanced technology concepting, and product and manufacturing engineering. She holds two degrees from McMaster University, namely a B.Eng.Sc in Materials Engineering and Science and a M.A.Sc in Chemical Engineering. She is a Partner at NorthTech Capital Investors and her current practice at NorthBridge Consultants focuses on working with early-stage and mature companies in order to increase success with various government funding programs, aiming to improve general operations and implement sustainable growth strategies.

Joe graduated Summa Cum Laude from Kettering University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and has an MBA from Northwood University.

Todd Deaville

Todd Deaville has served as Vice President, Factory of the Future since 2022. In this role he leads Magnas’ Corporate R&D teams with responsibility to identify, develop, and enable scale of advanced manufacturing technologies within Magna operations. Previously, Todd served as Director, Technology Innovation and Outreach for Magna R&D. Todd has worked for Magna in the automotive industry for 25 years, beginning with an apprenticeship in Mold Engineering and plastics molding. He received his Masters of Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Toronto in 2010, based on the development of a novel automotive acoustics actuator.

Chad Pallopson

Chad Pallopson has over 20 years of capital markets experience at some of Wall Street’s largest firms including J.P. Morgan, SVB Leerink, and Lazard. Chad has also been a Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager at a Connecticut-based long/short equity hedge fund. After more than 2 decades in the New York City area, Chad recently moved back home to Canada. Born and raised in Orillia, ON, he now resides in the Parry Sound/Muskoka area. He is currently a Venture Partner with Archangel-Axion Fund and a consultant for the Northern Ontario Angels group. He is a member of the NORCAT mentor advisory board and serves on the board of directors for Iregained Inc.
